                 Artist-Author Judy Link Cuddehe, Biography and Influences   
                                                 

  • Raised in agricultural Pennsylvania Dutch (German) community in Berks County, PA.
    • Small, rural public schools (elementary classes were separated by sliding partitions) provided a solid, often exceptional, education. 
    • Very active childhood (participated in extra-curricular activities, such as sports, band, clubs, church, youth groups, Camp Fire).
    • Parents were hard-working, blue-collar, kid-centric, community-oriented.  They were powerful role models of integrity, service and citizenship who encouraged their four children’s interests and talents.
  • Jobs:   Greenhouse Laborer through high school; upon graduation as a data entry clerk, receptionist and secretary at a bank in Reading, PA; enlisted in the US Air Force and became a Cryptographic Electronics Repair Technician from 1981-85 (Airman-Sergeant); Pinkerton’s Security Guard upon Honorable Discharge from USAF; Foreign Service Electronics Officer for US Department of State; Engineer (telecom) and Policy Chief at the Diplomatic Telecommunications Service; Director (GS-15) of Office of Telecom Mgt for US Department of Commerce; Small Business Owner Cuddehe Services, (2000-present) a Class-C-licensed Virginia contractormaster wood craftsman and inventor (registered provisional patent 61/288,481); author, illustrator, classroom speaker. 
  • Resided in  PA for 19 years, then in Texas and Wyoming while in the USAF from 1981-85.  In 1986 she moved to Northern Virginia.
  •   Married John G. Cuddehe, an exceptional man, in 1989 and has two amazing sons, Michael and John, who are named for family members that go back hundreds of years.  They treat her like the Queen of Virginia.  She has had the privilege of living with many, many animal friends throughout her life.  
  • Academic Credentials:  While working full-time, she took advantage of educational opportunities that fit around her schedule and geographic moves, earning the following:
    • MS in Information Systems, Strayer University, 1992, with honors;                                         
    • BA in Applied Behavioral Science, National-Louis University, 1988;
    • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management Institute (2009 with certification current through 2015);
    • AS Electronics Engineering Technician Certification, Community College of the Air Force.
  • Travelled extensively
    • Crossed the country by car numerous times (north-south and east-west), visiting 49 of the 50 magnificent United States.  She is a huge fan of National Parks and driving routes less travelled.
    • Overseas travel includes:  Philippines (3 months); Japan; Canada (extensively); England, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Mexico and Africa (Duala and Zaire-now the Rep. of the Congo). 
  • Member of:  Women in Military Service for America (charter member); Dulles Chamber of Commerce; Independent Book Publishers Association; PMIWashDC Chapter 
  • Interests:  Reading, travelling, artwork and woodwork of almost any kind, writing, being with family and friends, alone time, gardening, making things/fixing things.
